Frequently Asked Questions
Question: If I sign up for a free trial account, will I be able to add all of my locations and implement it on my Web Site?
Answer: Yes. The trial version is fully functional.
Question: How reliable is your hosted solution?
Answer: Our uptime for this service is consistently nearly 100%. Click here to view our Reliability Report.
Question: Why should I choose hosted solution over purchase solution?
Answer: With a hosted solution, all the zip code database updates, software upgrades and daily backups are done by us at no additional cost to you. You will still get the same seamless interaction, as if you installed it on your own server. Xtreme Locator communicate with your server to streamline the information without having results pop-up in a new window.
Question: Do I need to move my web site to use your hosted solution?
Answer: No, you simply copy and paste html code found in your Code Generator link in your administrator control panel and paste onto your site. We provide code in static HTML, frame, Iframe, .NET and PHP (we can do .jsp per request).
Question: I have used my free trial account for 30 days and I love it. What do I need to do to become a subscriber to the Xtreme Locator Service service?
Answer: From our pricing page, you can register and pay for a hosted or purchased solution. If you prefer to pay by check instead of credit card, you can contact us.
Question: When I become a subscriber, will I have to redo everything that I have already setup in my trial account?
Answer: Absolutely not! We will just change your account status from trial to active subscriber. Everything you have already setup will work just as it did.
Question: I might need some customization so as the product will fit my need. How to go about that?
Answer: No problem. We are able to customize your account even when hosting the service with us. We charge a competitive rate of $58/hour to do the needed custom work. And since we wrote the program, you can be assured that your customization will take 1/4 the time an independent programmer will need to accomplish the task.
Question: Can I get the mapping for addresses without advertising?
Answer: We offer a free link to maps at yahoo and mapquest. However, we also offer no advertising when hooked to MultiMap and ESRI. Both services include mapping for Europe, and both services are integrated within Xtreme Locator.
Question: With Xtreme Locator IVR installed, how can I service more than one customer accessing Xtreme Locator over the phone?
Answer: With the Hunting feature, each incoming call seeks out an available line from a sequence of pre-determined numbers. The feature tries each line in order, until it finds a line that is not occupied with another call. Your local phone company programs this hunting feature for you when your service is set up.
Question: On a hosted account, how can I make the look & feel of the result page as if the Xtreme Locator is running on my own site?
Answer: Through the administrative panel, click on Code Generator and you will be presented with different ways to integrate Xtreme Locator search and results within your website. The advanced code is for dynamic .net and .php to load the results and presented from within your site.
Question: I installed the purchased package on a Windows server, and the statistics page is not working.
Answer: it needs GD module in PHP. To enable it, you need to open c:\windowns\php.ini file and uncomment(remove ;) line ";extension=php_gd2.dll" I also suggest to enable zip "extension=php_zip.dll" module, if you will need to import zipped files. After you saved php.ini file, you will need to restart IIS.
Question: I searched for a zip code and in the search results, a location in a different zip code came up first in front of a location in the same location I searched for. What's wrong with my locator?
Answer: In all likelihood, nothing is wrong. When you search by zip code, Xtreme Locator assigns lat/long coordinates approximating the center of the zip code entered. From that approximated center, it is quite possible that a location in another zip code will be closer. Click Here for an example.
